Monday music: Toure Kunda

Today I planned to bring you a round up of different videos celebrating Senegalese musicians, because it was Senegal’s independence day last Friday … but I found I couldn’t get past Toure Kunda (the Toure family). Here’s one of their most famous songs from the 1980s.

They are still going strong. Here’s a more recent song.

I could go on and on, but I’m keeping it simple this week. I leave you with a song which inspired Carlos Santana. They later collaborated with Santana on his own version.
